Bundesrepublik Deutschland (BRD)- Federal Republic of Germany

Germany is a republic consisting of 16 federal states. These states are called Bundesländer
(Singular: Bundesland). Federalism is one of the entrenched principles of the Federal Republic as established in the Basic Law (Grundgesetz).
The official state name of the Bundesrepublik Deutschland is often abbreviated to BRD.
Germany has about 80 million inhabitants.

Here is a map showing each federal state with its German name.

Three of the Bundesländer are also called Stadtstaaten (city-states) as they mainly consist of a big city. These are Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen.
Another three states call themselves Freistaat (free state). However, these states have no special privileges or different government form. Historically, it is just a way to emphasize their deeply rooted democratic tradition. These states are Bayern, Sachsen and Thüringen.

Task:
A) The English names for eight of the states differ in their spelling. Match the German names correctly with their English versions.
B) Find the capital for each Bundesland.
